What goes into creating this painting?

This Feng Shui wish map is created entirely by hand; it is built up in layers on artists stretch box canvas. The background is created with a layer of texture medium, which is then over-painted using raw sienna and yellow ochre with a touch of burnt umber. A warm stone coloured acrylic wash completes the background.

The next two layers are built up over a minimum of two days; firstly the metallic wreath, which binds the two hearts, is created and left to cure. Secondly the hearts are composed using textured relief medium and set with genuine rose quartz crystal chips. The raised oblong with two swirls is also formed at this time. When this has fully dried, the forms are painted using the acrylic colours, red, gold and aubergine, along with a purple iridescent medium to give light reflecting quality. The painting does not need framing, as the sides are also painted, it is ready to hang. The size is H:40cm(16") W:50cm(20")
